Jimmy and His Egg

Last night Jimmy had us in stitches and I thought I would share the story with all of our readers. Eric, Taylor and I had been watching I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry and Jimmy had been back playing his new Spider-Man game on the X-Box. At the very end of the movie , Jimmy came out and announced to all of us that he was a chicken and was going to lay an egg. He sat down on the floor and started bawking and flapping his "wings", doing this several times before climbing on the couch next to me and repeating the same movements. Eric snuck off to the kitchen and grabbed an egg from the refrigerator and placed it on the floor where Jimmy had been sitting. All of a sudden, Eric said in a loud voice and pointing to the egg, "What is this!" Jimmy looked and his eyes got huge, total amazement. He jumped up and exclaimed, "I DID IT! I LAID AN EGG!" He ran over and picked it up and kissed it several times letting us know that it was his baby and he couldn't wait for it to "patch" (his way of saying hatch.) We laughed so hard we cried. He placed it in the fridge for safe keeping but checks on it's progress often. I placed a video and a picture of my son and my "soon-to-be grand baby".

Jimmy's First Snow

Making a snow angel
The finished product

Of course, Jimmy was around during snow but has never played in it, he just doesn't remember it. You should have seen his face when it started snowing a couple weeks ago and then last week we had enough snow for him to play in. He was so excited to get on that snow suit, hat, gloves and coat. He stayed out there for at least 30 minutes.

Jimmy on His Bike

Jimmy got a new Spider-Man bike a couple months ago and he spent most of his time on it. We had to leave it at Nani and Poppa's but will get it when we return home.

Kindergarten Schedule

These are the classes Jimmy is attending this year.

1. Paganism (15 minutes)
2. Letters and Sounds (10 minutes)
3. Letter People (15 minutes)
4. Social Studies (5-10 minutes)
5. Number Skills (10-15 minutes)
6. God's World (5-10 minutes)
7. Writing (10-15 minutes)
8. Art (30 minutes)

Art is done every Friday with an activity of the month. I do get Art books for both kids on their grade level, so it is part of the curriculum. For anyone who wants to know, I go through A Beka for all the children's school books. This is the only curriculum that I have ever used but it was referred to me by a home schooling group out of Brandon, Florida. So far, I really love all their material and plan to keep using throughout both the children's education and yes, I plan to home school until graduation.

Kindergarten Days

I have to take some time to brag on Jimmy, he has really amazed me with his schooling. From the first day of Kindergarten he has jumped in and has done perfect, yes perfect, in all of his work. We had some struggle last year with recognizing letters and numbers but this year he is really getting it down. He is a very easy student, follows directions, writes beautifully and works hard at whatever is placed in front of him. I started Letter People this year to help him with his letters and he really enjoys it.

Jimmy's classes only last about 1 hour and 15 minutes and then he is outside riding his bike. I added a couple more classes than needed this year, science and social studies. I figured he would think they were fun and he seems to enjoy them both. The only thing that Jimmy does not care for is coloring, he really never has. He will start but tires easily and of course almost every page he has this year has something or other to do with coloring. I do not force his to color the full page, it's not like he doesn't know how. When he does color he does a great job of staying the lines, he just would rather draw and that is fine with me.

I did take some pictures today of him in school but I will probably not get them on until I get back from Florida, so please check back.

Jimmy's Night with Underground

Uncle Nick, Jimmy and Rory
Matt is seated in this pic, friend of Underground

Jimmy was able to go to an Underground accoustic show for the first time and was invited onstage with them as well. He had a blast and really cheered Uncle Nick and Rory on. Rory announced that Jimmy was their financial advisor and Jimmy proud as could be yelled out, "That's right, I am!" He got his very own shirt to wear, yes, it is a bit big and looked like a dress on him, but he did not care, he was very proud of it and slept in that night.

Jimmy finally got to see Delaney last night and the two acted out a marriage...so cute. They played so good all night. All I could think about was how much she looked like Jordan when she was the same age.

Jimmy's New Doo

Auntie Ste gave Jimmy a mohawk tonight. When I first saw it I was a little shocked but once she spiked it up I really like it. She was planning to shave it down tomorrow but we have decided to let him keep it and he is very happy about that decision. Notice the Ron Paul 2008 button that he is sporting, he was out today showing his support.

Jimmy at the Park

I took Jimmy to the park while Mom and Taylor took Kam home. We had a lot of fun from playing Super Mario Brothers to shopping for balloons and candy. He took me for a walk through the "umungus forest" and showed me where all the bears lived. I enjoyed my time with him but my only wish was that it wasn't so hot or we could have stayed there a lot longer.

Jimmy and Kam

Jimmy loved being around the baby Kam. He was very gentle and caring and was constantly asking to "carry" him (which means hold.) He told Kam several time that he was his big brother and then would ask me if he was a good big brother, he wants Daddy and Mommy to have a baby boy for him but I guess Kam was as close as he can get right now. I tried to explain that he was Kam's cousin but he didn't want to listen to that, why would he, he finally has a brother in his mind.

Jimmy has really started showing his independence in the last few weeks and now is doing so many things without Mom. I don't know how I feel about this, I know I should be happy but at the same time it makes me so sad to watch my baby grow up. He is still a mommy's boy and loves to cuddle when he first wakes up in the morning but he is now trying to fix his own breakfast, get himself dressed, cleaning his room without my help, those are all the things I enjoy doing for him. He still counts on Taylor for a lot of things and she really seems to like doing things for her brother, which is nice, but what about me?

I am blessed that I have had the opportunity to stay home with him and watch him grow, he is such a handsome, well-behaved child. He is so much like me, not just in looks but in personality too and he melts my heart everyday.

What a Big Boy

Today marks the first time Jimmy has dressed himself. I know, 5-years-old and he has never really attempted it. He has always told me he couldn't do but today he came in the living room and showed me his new talent and was ready for me to take him to Wal-Mart. I had to get a picture of his new style--short sleeve shirt, sweat pants, and his Crocs, he is a trend setter! :)

Living Room Camp Out

Jimmy was feeling pretty left out from the girls so we decided to have our own camp out last night. We brought our pillows to the living room and Jimmy and I laid on the couch, talking and laughing, until we finally fell asleep. He seemed pretty amazed that I stayed with him all night but I had a lot of fun...Mommy and Jimmy night. The girls let him sleep with them tonight in their homemade tent.
